Addition of Similar Digit Number SSC Maths Short Trick 2017

Overview

The addition is the basis of Mathematics, and most of us are pretty good in addition of digits like 3+4 = 7. But with easiness; addition is time-consuming. Especially when you have to add the same kind of digits, for eg 9+99+999+9999 =?

For this kind of time-consuming addition question, I am giving you this short trick, which you may find very helpful in upcoming SSC or Government exams.

Addition of Similar Digit Number SSC Maths Short Trick

Example 1: Add 8+88+888=?

Trick :

Step 1: Take 8 common as we do in normal maths, 8 (1+11+111).

Step 2: Now count the number of 1's, ie. 1=1, 11=2, 111=3, so now equation becomes 8 (123).

Step 3: Open bracket and Multiply 8 x 123 = 984 .

Easy no?

Example 2:  7+77+777+7777

Step 1: Take 7 common and replace remaining with 1's .ie. 7 (1+11+111+1111).

Step 2: Count number of 1's. ie 1=1, 11=2, 111=3, 1111=4, now equation becomes 7 (1 2 3 4)

Step 3: Open brackets and multiply 7x1234=8638.

Special Cases

Some times you may get a question when the number of digits is not increasing.

Special Example: 4+44+4444=?

Here you can see after 44, 444 is missing, i.e 3 digit is missing. So in this case we will follow same procedure.

Step 1: Take 4 Common and replace remaining 4 with 1's, making equation 4 (1+11+1111).

Step 2. Count number of 1's,ie. 1=1,11=2,1111=4. and write it as 4(124).

Step 3. As 3 is missing from above equation, we add it as imaginary number (Temporary). so eqn become 4(1234).

Step 4. Multiply 4 x 1234= 4936

Step 5. Subtract imaginary number ( 3 digit so it was 444).

Answer 4936-444 = 4492.

If you think is simple addition would be faster without this trick then try doing these questions as homework.
